I went through my late teens (17-21ish) addicted to crack. I was disowned by my family, was in and out of jail, lost all my friends and committed some unspeakable acts, all for crack. It culminated in a suicide attempt in which I planned to throw myself from busy overpass. As luck would have it, a car crawled past just as I was about to jump, with this very song blasting from the speakers. As soon as I heard the lyrics, I immediately quit crack there and then. And went straight to school.
