Western Sahara, Occupied Territories-Hundreds of Saharawi citizens demonstrate in Occupied El Ayun against the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.

April 20

Hundreds of Saharawi citizens demonstrate in Occupied El Ayun against the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.

The demonstrations took place in several neighborhoods, where the demonstrators called for the independence of Western Sahara repeating slogans such as "Morocco get out and free Sahara" and also "there is no alternative to self-determination".

On Tuesday afternoon, dozens of Saharawi came together in el Mamun Street, in the Maatallah neighborhood -El Ayun city center which is the center of demonstrations, and repeated slogans condemning the detention of dozens of political prisoners at the black prison of El Ayun or other prisons in Morocco.

Moreover, similar demonstrations were conducted in Mezuary and Smara avenues, in front of the court of appeal, waving SADR flags and crying out political slogans. On Wednesday morning, the Intifada activists carried out a great campaign of paintings on the walls in Zemla, Bucraa and Ras eljaima streets and above all on the walls of the Institute called Hassan I.

In El Aauda neighborhood, a group of young people decided to concentrate on a public square in condemnation of the marginalization and exclusion that the Saharawi population is living.

Meanwhile in Mekka Street, a group of unemployed Saharawi decided to make an open concentration since the occupation administration has not responded to their demands.

Several political prisoners' families concentrated in front of the black prison of El Ayun after hearing rumors about their release; however the occupation forces surrounded the place and caused panic among the families.

At the Headquarters of the so-called National Council for Human Rights, a demonstration was held by the families of the disappeared before the disinterest of the occupation authorities.

And finally, the Moroccan authorities released the activist Ali Taklbut after spending two days in detention, during which he was tortured and interrogated about his participation in Gdim Iizk. Ali Taklbut accused the executioner Elhaisuni Mohamed of having tortured him along with his group.
