This video is my current routine for conditioning and washing long natural hair. I have been doing this for years and it works wonders for me to retain length, and keep my hair clean and healthy.
Thanks for visiting :)

Long Hair Conditioning & Washing Steps

1.Start with dry or damp hair.

2.Separate hair into 8 sections.

3.In container mix conditioner and honey (approximately 6 to 8 times the conditioner) or- purchase an over the counter deep conditioning treatment

4.Saturate each section of hair from root to tip with mixture, roll section into small bantu knot and fasten with soft scrunchie

5.Cover hair with conditioner cap and sit under dryer for 15-30 minutes or- walk around house for 3 or more hours or- cover snugly with large satin scarf and go to bed (be careful with this last one!!!)

6.In shower remove 1 scrunchie, add more condition, and with a Denman-like brush or wide toothed comb detangle hair from tip to root working up inch by inch. Re-fasten detangled section with scrunchie and repeat with other sections

7.Rinse each section THOROUGHLY while brushing or combing as water runs.

8.Wash scalp and hair with Castile or mild soap or shampoo. Opt for mild detergents. Wash with pads of fingers, not nails!

9.Rinse each section THOROUGHLY while brushing or combing as water runs.

10.Optional final rinse with cold water to close cuticles and leave hair sheeny

11.Once out of shower, moisturize hair with shea butter and coconut oil or other moisturizer from root to tip.

12.Style and go be cute girl!!!

  • I absolutely love this video. I've been watching it and the demo over and over when I was my hair. I am finally subscribing to you on youtube, after having been a part of your other site for a while. Love your input and your heart!

  • @lanicert :: thank you :)

  • I love the your tag name. It's very befitting. You have a very natural earthy beauty.. You go girl. YOu motivate me to grow out my natural hair. It seems like it stopped growing

  • @NappyHalo Hi hun, thanks so much for the kind words. Unless you have a medical condition your hair always grows from the root. You need to focus on retaining the growth you have by nurturing the ends of your hair so that you don't experience breakage and keep the hair on your head. Hope that helps and all the best on your journey. ~ ini

  • This is my first time viewing your channel and I have to say I am hooked. I find you highly amussing and your personality simply puts a smile to many faces I'd imagine....God bless and keep up the good work of spreading natural hair care. I have been natural since 06 and still have alot to learn. My hair is long but I'm not so sure of how healthy it is...I tend to shed alot almost like a sheep dog so that makes me a bit concerned. I will keep tuning in.

  • yeah...you look cute
