Prince Rama Varma mesmerizes us with his gentle and yet intense veena rendering of Raaga Neelambari bringing alive the meaning of this romantic Malayalam composition by Maharaja Swati Tirunal. The song is a message sung by the love-lorn "Nayika" to her friend (Sakhi)asking her to tell Krishna that she is languishing with love and pining away for Him. Neelambari is known for its extreme sweetness and it is the preferred choice of Raaga for singing lullabies.

  • Soothing

  • The Song En Vittu thottathil is also on Neelambari i believe,.. very nice feel for soothing atmosphere,..

  • A very tasteful veena player. He trusts fully in the music and does not need to overdo anything.

  • Lyrics of the padam:

kAnthanOdu chennu melle kili mozhi sucha mihavatha

    kAtharAkshi thAndhaiyahi maruvunne tharunee mani

vasudeva suthan varumen miha mamadhava nayi sakhi

  • Does anyone know the full lyrics of this padam? Would appreciate if you can post it here or send the details to me.

    Many thanks.

  • Thanks for posting this outstanding rendition of a rare piece by Swati Tirunal. Prince RV has played soulfully, and so has the mrudangist with excellent use of gumki phrases.

  • A Neelambari that makes me feel taken care of like a kid once again. God Bless you

  • I can imagine what Swathi thought of while composing this. Thanks Prince. Thanks a ton
