An indie game by a small group known as D'India, (headed by a person with the last name being the same as the groups). Darkwolf is a platforming sidescroller that has you in control of a Wizard that is on a quest to broker a peace deal between rival factions. The game seems to run a bit slow in DOSBOX compared to a real 486 running real DOS, but it is very playable if you ramp up the cycles. The controls are interesting.

A, S, Z and X all do something and pressing up will let you jump. Overall, it would be easy enough to map to a controller.

  • this game is so awesome.. used to play this with my mom when i was 4 (to scared to play for myself) .. had nightmares about the little green creatures.. but i remember grey ones to... where are those?

  • Oh, I loved this game! The music is really catchy and beautiful. For a platformer the atmosphere is nice too.

Furthermore this game comes to my mind when I see textscrollers in modern games / on modern consoles. Often they are jerky making it difficult to read while the text is scrolled. Darkwolf came with its own readme.exe. And this little textviewer (working in DOS in 80x25-textmode (!)) was nothing but eyecandy and smooooth and still makes textiviewers in modern games like FFXIII its bit**!

  • omg the cutscenes almost as bad as zelda cdi

  • the music in level 1 is like iron maiden a lot!holy shit these green creatures who look like anteaters were scary as hell when i was 5 :/

  • Whoa, I remember this game! I only played the shareware version, and regret not buying the full version. Thanks for sharing this.

  • loved this game..........never made it pass the castle tho.....fire always ran out!
