Making the LIVESTRONG wristbands

The Livestrong wristband is a yellow silicone wristband (a gel bracelet) launched in May of 2004 as a fund-raising item for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, founded by cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong.

The band is part of the "Wear Yellow Live Strong" educational program. The program is intended to raise money for cancer research, raise cancer awareness, and encourage people to live life to the fullest. The band sells individually, as well as in packs of 10 and 100 as part of an effort to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in cooperation with Nike who manufactures the "live strong" bands in Austin, Texas which is the home of Lance Armstrong and other world wide manufacturing plants. There have been 70 million Livestrong bands sold to date
