On April 15, 2010, the wrecking ball collapsed the fifth- and sixth-floor facade of the east wing of Mother Concordia Hall on SSM St. Mary's Health Center's campus. The building, which opened in 1931, housed three nursing schools and many offices throughout the years. Mother Concordia Hall, however, has been vacant for many years. It's removal from the SMHC campus will make way for a transformed entranceway that will include improved traffic circulation routes, a covered drop-off area, water features and green space.
