  • From what I've read, the S-type actually shares the frame of the now defunct Ford Thunderbird/Lincoln LS, not the Ford Taurus, the motor is built in Britain and from talking to other owners, they are a real pain to maintain, horrible reliability issues, but they like to consider it the charm of the vehicle.

  • well in 3 years that jag never broke down, never burnt a drop of oil, never overheated or anything...it was perfect!

  • which size of engine u got?

  • 3 liter, which is about 180ci i think

  • you must be a lucky owner, because I am interested in buying one, but reading about the many expensive reliability issues gives me doubts to even purchase a jag,

  • hmm...im not sure about other models, that stype was bought new in 2003, and sold last year w/ 60k miles, and no probs whatsoever. they are expensive to service, but aslong as theyre looked after i cant see why there should be and trouble

  • nice looking jaguar, mine is nice 2 :p

  • yea.. but there is a problem with mine. It wont shift to reverse or drive, the shifter feels loose. does anyone know whats wrong with it??

  • I agree... Jags are elegant and dont cause any problems...

its just the haters scratching it...bitches

  • Jags had a bad rep in early ninety's. 15 years ago...just about all makes from around the world have had an issue..

I love my 04 XJ8, 63k miles and no issues-just pure enjoyment. Wouldnt think twice about buying again.Services are cheaper than my porsche-

  • Correct, floorpan is shared with Lincoln but all else is jaguar specific. The V6 shares the block and crank with the Ford V6 used in europe but again everything else is jaguar specific. I've owned one two years and it's been fine. the only time it's failed to start was when I ran the battery flat.
