Two masterpieces of twentieth-century British ballet danced by the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet. Created for the Vic-Wells Ballet in the 1930s by founder-choreographer Ninette de Valois, Checkmate and The Rakes Progress remain cornerstones of the British ballet repertoire. The scores, by Sir Arthur Bliss and Gavin Gordon, respectively, are here performed by the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Barry Wordsworth. Filmed in 1982 at Sadlers Wells Theater, London.

Nicola conveys the sorry of betrayal so well as to make it believable. It's quite clear that she has real depth, quite apart from the perfection of her technique so well displayed in this beautiful video.

Beautiful, thank you. I watched her dance when I was a little girl and met her outside the theatre. She was beautiful to watch.
