I don't see any problem in buying a theremin. It isn't the DIY-route, but a lot of people don't make their own guitars either. As a musician, I bought a theremin, and I'm not ashamed. But I dabble in DIY-noise-stuff, so I was interested in some info on the antennas.
However, my main problem here, as with many "make a theremin"-videos on YouTube, is the lack of volume-antennas. Just controlling the pitch makes no sense.

@widgity Nooooooo! analog all the way. If you just route it into a DAW it defeats the purpose. It's just a MIDI controller at that point and you're not creating anything new; just the same old boring digital sounds everyone else uses.
