This is my first time ever in the cab of a SD70MAC. If I sound very goofy and nerdy in this video, it's because if you are true railfan you can't help but get totally ecstatic when you're given the opportunity to get in the engineer's seat of one of these beasts. The story here was, I was taking pictures on the side of the road and the engineer invited me in! I was one lucky guy! Anyway enjoy!!!

  • I appreciate the video, but next time maybe get the whole cab, not just one control screen?

  • @MuddyG I do have video but it had the engineer's face along with sensitive information in the video. I didnt wan't to get him in trouble so I edited those out. Next time I'll get video without the Engineer in the shot. Sorry!

  • Anybody know what that error msg was at the end of the video clip? he never did tell me what happened. He just say "Oops, the EOT went down to zero"

  • Very nice! i had a a cab ride once and i know i sound so funny, lol. and it does look exactly like train sim!

  • the video is much longer than this, but I had to trim it because I went on gushing like a school girl I didn't want to sound stupid now. But I had the best time of my life. You'll notice because some of the conversation seems cut-off. LOL The guy was really nice!

  • someone ought to put that sound to CD and sell it, pure symphonic pleasure right there! and ALOT of power!

  • I agree...I would have creamed my pants had that guy not been there lol! The feeling was pure Ecstasy being in that seat. I mean the thing was shaking and vibrating it was totally awesome. I loved it!

  • @fyadcorp If the train had pushers it could mean a comm loss as well, it doesn't necessarily mean it went into emergency... and since you didn't hear the PCS valve open up the unit you were in it was likely just a comm loss.

  • @valareksic EOT = End Of Train air pressure, it is the brake pipe pressure reading the EOT sends up to the lead unit. When it drops to zero it means all the air has gone out of the brake pipe, usually that means the train has gone into emergency.

  • @valareksic: He just say "Oops, the EOT went down to zero"

JM: EOT...engine oil temperature? Just a guess. If oil temp went to zero, sounds like an indication problem, not a real problem. Maybe there is something wrong with the oil temp sensor...or the wires. But the computer might not want to keep operating the engine without a good oil temperature reading. That might be a show stopper.

  • Desktop controls suck. Gotta love the sound of that 710!

  • those are my favorite types of locomotives especially the ones with the desktop controls

  • @CSX2057 That's true. I have it, too. SD70ACE is great ingame.

  • LOL! I got Railworks 2 simulator. Its fun! Love it!

  • "so how long have you been driving trains?"........dude had nothing to say!

    lol
