A day and three quarters! Was down in Mullion,on the South coast, until about 10 am,but came away as it was dull, cloudy and the previous day quite windy,so after consulting map briefly, took a stab in the dark and drove to the nearest port on the North coast.Upon reaching there I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, sunny, flat calm, beautiful. One big problem though - Parking. After frustratingly finding nowhere(£7.50 on the only pay and display)I was actually driving off when a place became vacant - fate? In school holiday season it must be impossible.Anyway the trip, were do I start,2 kayakers came in and advised to head north, saying that heading South was just as good(next video)so off I go and immediatly became aware that this was going to be very special, one of those days when you sense it,and you're right(been wrong more than once)I won't wax lyrical here as I think the results speak for themselves, suffice to say it was one of the most enjoyable days out of my then 43yrs,the water quality is just in a league of its own,and seems to be more viscous than anywhere else I've visited, its like thin baby oil -amazing.At the time I didn't know any of the place names, the first bit of habitation is Porth Towan, this is connected to Chapel Porth at low water,in between here I came across the "Ocean Sunfish Off Cornwall" check out the YouTube video I did - amazing creature! Some of the bays feel like a different planet to me,and inspired the music I recorded especially for this video. For my recent birthday my better half got me a Boss BR 600 mini recording studio, and on here are the results of my first attempt. As with all these things they always seem hideously over complicated to my simple, outlook on life, and much frustration has transpired leading to it being threatened severally with the fist, hammer, and size nine!!!
Hopefully it will be worth it,as now I can mix drum patterns, bass, piano e,t,c.As good as this day was,I came back the following day,and it was even better,I kid you not,the next video will provide ample evidence,I'm sure you will agree.Later I moved up to Boscastle(see Boscastle Cave video)and the whole trip was a rip roaring sucess,in amongst all the bad summer of '09 was some fantastic conditions as witnessed here.

  • Fantastic video,thanks.

  • @MrADUFFIELD It was indeed, one of the best days, that I've had in my Kayak, can't understand why,it has got 855 views,as opposed to the "Portreath - Godrevy Island" which has nearly 3500? Curiouser and curiouser.....

  • Cheers for posting.

  • @weirwolfarroo No problem,it was a brilliant day,and it's nice to share it with like-minded people.

  • Great videos ! I'm off to Mullion in the next few weeks and I'm taking my sit on top perception fishing kayak.

I'm new to kayaking and wouldn't mind a few tips on where is a good launching place with access etc? I've done the rya power boat course a few years ago so I've an understanding of the safety aspects etc ( I'll review these before I go out) I have every intention of taking it easy on my first outings especially until I get used to the kayak etc. It will be loaded with safety gear etc.

  • @passims Don't forget if it turns bad at Mullion, you could do Portreath, half hour drive.I honestly thought it was better,it was superb, think it's a bit of a well kept secret.

  • ere northerner, dun ee say anythin bout r kelp!!mutters,,,,cummin downere, littering r ocean wiv forrin fruit etc!!!!

  • @passims Mullion is good to launch, get there early, ask permission at the cafe, and they should let you drive down to the harbour,it is really lovely,I tried to get to Kynance, but the weather disagreed with me - twice! Poldhu was launchable,Kynance wanted £6 to drive down,so I didn't go,and forget Church cove(East of lizard) beautiful, but awkward.Cadgwith is do-able but very limited parking, and Praa sands was expensive and awkward.Mullion it is then, but be early about 8am should be ok - good luck

  • @Sugarfoot108 Can you believe it one cheeky git said I look and sound like Peter Kay,to the uninitiated, the accent bears a passing resemblance, but LOOK like him!time to look up my local "Weightwatchers" methinks!

  • Another good vid. Love the Northern humourous touch :))
