Members of the Penn State Animal Diagnostic Laboratory visited a hibernating black bear in her den with three cubs. They were with a team of wildlife biologists from the PA Game Commission. The den was located near Sproul State Forest on the bank of the Western Branch of the Susquehanna River.
Sow: 157 pounds, 18-20 years.
Cubs: about 5 pounds each, two females and a male, 8 weeks old.
