Development of high strain rate zones and formation of "ribbons" in the zones (SUNY)

Shearing is localized in the two zones near the top and bottom of the field. In these zones, subvertical alignment of subgrain boundaries can be seen. At the end, the upper zone consists, at least in terms of the c-axis orientations, nearly a single grain, which resembles quartz ribbons.
