Emily and I sailing on a Hunter 23. This was the last sail for the 2010 season. Practicing some tacking and just enjoying the last of the good weather on Lake Michigan for the season.

  • Just purchased a good used H23 out of Chicago. Looking forward to to refit this winter and on the water in the Spring. I dig that starchy-stiff jib. Whose sails are they? Mine are shot and need replacing. Newbie question: You can't run a roller-furling on a jib with that stiff of material, correct? Thanks for sharing your experiences. :-)

  • @RTFLDGR Thanks! I've really enjoyed our Hunter 23, I think you'l like it. Where will you be sailing out of? My Genoa is made by North Sails, my main sail is from UK Sailmakers (it's a used sail from ebay for a Hunter 235) and my jib is a Neil Pryde.

I could run a roller furling on my genoa, but I'd have to have it converted from a hank-on. For a boat the size of the H23, I don't see much advantage to a roller furling personally. I'd rather just swap sails based on conditions.

  • I like all your vids...I just bought an Oday 240 1989 about a week ago and can't wait to sail her on the big lake...I live in galesburg Illinois and have to trailer her to the lake...Again,great job on the vids, keep em coming.....Hope to see you out there..My kids named the boat, she is named " Flounders Fury "

  • @imyourhuckleberry357 Thanks! We have loved our first season of sailboat ownership! I'm pulling the boat out on Saturday and putting her away for winter storage. :( Can't wait for the 2012 season! I still have about 5 or 6 more videos that I haven't finished editing that I'll be posting over the next few months! If you are ever sailing up near South Haven, MI, give a VHF hail for "Wind Rover"!

  • @Paladin27 Loving your videos. Super psyched to go pick up my Hunter 23 tomorrow. Plan to do a bunch of "microcruising" next summer on Lake Ontario. Ill have to compliment your H23 videos. :)

  • @grindz145 I think you'll love it! It's a little boat, but it gets around quite well. I've really enjoyed her this summer. Still have about 4 or 5 more videos I need to edit and upload. Just pulled her out this morning, until April 2012..... I'm already counting down the days.

  • Ya it came with a single axle trailer that doesn't have brakes. That's the standard trailer that came with the Hunter 23 back in the 80s. You will enjoy it, it's a great little boat!

  • It is good video of last season of sail. Did it came with trailer? My family and I have 1986 trailer without brake that came with 1986 Hunter 23. It must be classic look for '80's I know there is hard to find like that kind of sailboat. We got lucky that got one from Oregon. Cant wait in spring upcoming!
