@Dionysosable He was the greatst American conductor. But Toscanini was not stiff. He may have stuck to the printed score, but that doesn't make him stiff.

Would like to have seen more of this, especially the LSO of 1967. If the camera had swivelled the right way we might very well have seen some interesting musical personalities eg James Galway on principal flute.

Too Stiff ???? What are you talking about jomill78 ? If you spoke about otto Klemperer or worse Arturo Toscanini , you could speak about stiffness!!
Bernstein was one of the greatest rythmic souls in music ever. And the greatest conductor who ever lived period!!
