@PNCGOMEZ I concede I am unfamiliar with the native plugins that come with PT but I prefer outboard equipment for compression/coloring, etc. I still would like to hear WHY they are better. Why are PT 1s and 0s different from Cubase 1s and 0s? ;)
If I am mixing 'in the box' I use the Abbey Road plugins. They are the end all for me. I am in love with their sound and am pretty convinced that nothing will ever take their place as they mimic $10,000 units I could never afford.

@morninggloryseed You are really overthinking it. Protools just has better effects. Plain and simple. You can do a lot more to an audio file in Protools than you can in any other recording software. Better EQ, better compression, etc. Of course if you are going to use nothing but 3rd party plug ins, then it has nothing to do with the program.

What does Protools do differently?
Perhaps I simply lack a fundamental understanding of how Protools works because I am unaware of what would make it 'sound better' in how it prints music through a native or 3rd party plug in. As far as editing capabilities (ie to cut, copy, paste, erase with no modulation of the sound) I again fail to see what Protools does that I cannot in Cubase but I look forward to learning.

@morninggloryseed This is true. A dry recording will sound the same. It's what you are able to do to that recording in protools that exceeds all other programs.

Protools is MEGAHYPED because it is used in big name studios...but DAWs are not like stand alone recordiong machines...assuming all things in the signal chain are equal, Protools is not going to sound any better or woerse than any other DAW.. A recording made with Cubase will sound the same.

@theflashbackaudio so how exactly do you connect this mic into garageband?
This is absolutely amazing! You have an awesome voice. I look forward to hearing more from you!
What preamp are using, what interface and what software? I'm guessing pro tools, but I would like to know for sure. :)

@PNCGOMEZ Thanks a lot. You'll probably laugh but i actually used Garageband for this. At this point I didn't have anything other than that. Now I use pro tools or logic for all my recordings. aaaaand I used whatever pre is in the M-Audio Fast Track.
