Jim is a great meteorologist, if it was for Forbes, hed be the best in the country.. He knows when it's not safe that's what happened, but I did get get mad this night, he could have relocated, he never did. Oh well. It's just 58 mph gusts

When Ike hit, it hit at the wrong time and the wrong place. The location being the Houston Shipping channel, with miles of flats behind it. The time being a full moon peak tide driven +2 feet above normal tides. Landfall happened at 1AM, the peak tide at 2 to 3AM.. This was the worst timing any storm could have on any location. Initial landfall was to be Corpus Christi, and they could have taken it better than Galveston did.
