That was nice :)

@jaileroflove to put this in context, if you do some tactics training on chesstempo, you'll see that crucial zwischenzugs are a whole theme for solving the tactical problems therein. what other chess mistake is more common than your opponent thinking, "alright, i play takes, opponent retakes, i [ton of analysis that misses "opponent simply doesn't retake, and does something else]." how many games have you, any reader, lost because you did that?
-
@kingscrusher i think that in blitz, you often (or at least occasionally) go overboard with the zwischunzugs, which makes you a more dangerous player than people who don't consider them, but also occasionally blows won positions for you. in the longer time limits, this tendency really shows as a virtue though, digging out tactics the opponent doesn't think of, while giving you time to not commit to them if they're unsound.

KC I know it's already game over, but it would be quicker if you have observed Nxe5 or even Qxc5 in the latter stage of the game.
-
I know the outcome would have been the same, but 38. Qxc5 QxN 39. Rxd6+ BxR 40 QxQ etc. looks fun.

It was like; you've seen the weather report. The Hurricane is coming. Then it is all over the place. His house is blown apart, and he's still sitting there and playing with you !! Hahahaha.
G.O. a long time ago. (Y)

You got a nice rating now. What's your current rank?

In the position at 11:00 it looks as though you can just play h3 and there's absolutely nothing he can do...
-
@jewbinson Also, surely exchanging the knight instead of the bishop is better because preserving the bishop allows g3 to be more effective
-
15. b5 is worth considering with the idea of exchanging on c5
Also KC I've been starting to play a lot of G/15's myself and I was wondering what you thought the merit of such a time control is to getting better? I know they all say play slow games, slower the better. Wondering what a quick guru like yourself thinks on the matter. Thanks.

@pitstainz Hahaha I was really honestly going to do a video about this very question. I really think in my case, I pick up incredibly bad habits from bullet, 2 min, 3 min and 5 min chess. I think maybe one critical measure is the time to consider zuichenzugs (in between moves). I was going to do an outrageous video emphasising this - like "How many Zuichenzugs are you considering?" haha. I think the more relaxed you are, the more you will think about subtle resources and not "reflex" moves.

@pitstainz The merit of having a Youtube chess channel is also if you want to do videos a lot, you end up doing post mortem analysis of your wins, draws, losses - analysing master games in depth - and also playing on time controls online you would have never dreamt of. So basically this is all in the process of "chess evolution" to raise one's game understanding. Critical analysis of games - during games, after games, master games, help along with constructing a good opening repertoire etc.

Interesting with the queenside castle but otherwise a waste of time - I wish you'd play at 15 0 some much stronger opponents so we can see what you're thinking when faced with stronger moves

@jonsploder Also I prefer the 15 minute autopairing to the 5 minute for the quality of commentary which I hope the main reason is for these "live commentary" videos. Playing titled players is nice but most of them stick to bulelt / 3 minute or 5 minute chess. There are in fact only 7 players above 2300 on the 15 minute autopairing - you do realise that?!

@kingscrusher Oh wow only 7 players? Why on earth not more?
jonsploder 1 month ago
@jonsploder There are 2671 players in total in the pool. There are currently only about 7 players over 2300.
