I have to say Super Mario World was a great game, but it's not my favorite on the SNES. Kirby Super Star is my favorite, and I have to say it's better than Sonic. Kirby's Dream Land 3 looks good too.

It was good, but on the surface Mario World was a joke compared to the original Sonic. The graphics were primitive, there was one song in the entire game, and the bosses were the same thing over and over. Anyone could pick up Sonic and see it controlled better. Watching Mario slide around with his floaty jump, holding down "B" to run--Sonic's movement was more natural, he had a coherent physics system based on momentum, the feeling of sliding down hills and rolling into a ball was amazing.

@it4040 Also, the popularity between sonic and mario in the 90's is debatable. It was a console war going on (super nintendo vs sega genesis) and thats just the way it was and always will be. Great job!
