How 'bout a small angle grinder with a wire brush tool on it? Takes far less time to do the job, doesn't require heating the damn thing with a blowtorch and it's really inexpensive.

@LYinKansas Pepsi & Coke both contain Phosphoric Acid [food acid], which coverts the rust to iron phosphate.

Phosphoric Acid for light surface rust, Tani Acid for heavier "flaky" rust. Will do are far better job, than Citric.

for drying , why not simply wipe it with a cloth instead of using hot air ?

Here we go again...
Citric acid can be bought from drugstore (they use it in jelly or such to adjust acidity) but it is very expensive there. Therefore Finnish rodders buy it from some agriculture-store. It is not expensive. Officially it is used as pigs obstruent!
