Episode 12 The Story Behind 2/7

"Not that 'Soon'." I felt some goosebumps. I hadn't been planning of leaving my youth life yet.

She nodded, satisfied. "I agree. You're too young."

"You saw my point!"

"So Demi.."--she flashed another teasing grin--"When are you planning to tell mom?"

"Why do you care?" My voice came out sarcastically.

"Well, Im still part of our family." She answered with a heavy point there. "Am I not suppose to know?"

I groaned once more. "Fine."

She laughed. "Soo?.."

"I'll bring Joe here on Christmas." I explained calmly. "We'll face mom and dad together, to make it more official."--I sighed silently--"And serious."

"Serious.." She repeated my word. Both her eyebrows met, she seemed bewildered.

"What's wrong with that?"

"It's just.."--struggling for words--"Well, serious? Uhmm.."

"Dallas?" Both my eyebrows raised at the same time.

"Too young. Too young." She shook her head, unbelievingly.

"We're too young to take our relationship seriously? Is that it?"

"Exactly."

"There's nothing wrong with that." I objected calmly.

"I guess so."

"You know me, Dallas." I rolled my eyes. "Im totally in love with him."

"I know." She smiled at me. "Just.. Just don't take it too seriously, don't give your whole. He might hurt you some day. He's still a guy, and he got his moments. Just.. dont give your 100%."

"So how much do you want me to give?"

"You decide." She giggled.

"I totally understand you, Dallas." I giggled with her. "And I trust Joe.. 100%. But I would probably take your advice. That might be helpful some day."

"That's my lil sis."

I stood up and paced quickly to sit beside her and gave her a warm bear hug. "Thanks."

"I just couldn't let a guy make you cry like what.." She trailed off when I pulled back.

"Like what Cody did to me?" I finished her sentence.

She nodded, so I was right. Now, it was all about my ex-boyfriend. Cody Linley. He was a great guy though. Good-looking, smart, sweet, nice and funny. He was all I had ever dreamt of, even though he hadn't passed some of my standards--lead singer in a band, black long straight hair, heavy eye-shadow make up, black jeans and an appearance that looked exactly like he hadn't taken a bath in 5 days. He was still my Prince Charming that time.

But one thing was for sure, he had hurt me so bad. I never knew there was no happy ending for the two of us, since that time I was entirely devoted to him--completely inlove with him. But I was wrong, we weren't perfect for each other, we didn't match at all, and he found someone better. That was the real reason behind the public story, yet we sure had to keep it sealed. We realized we needed to part ways, so we broke up. It was one of the darkest moments of my life. I knew I had to do it but my heart was left unshielded, as it was stabbed over and over again with Cody's invisible knife--his absence for the first few weeks since the break up drove me completely insane. I'd drawn myself in tears and suffered depression for couple of days. It was crazy, I'd loathed that feeling so much that it made me worry about myself. I called Cody and asked if he could give me some of his time. He agreed to talk with me personally, it was obvious that the break up made him feel the same way too. And so we talked it all down, clearing every single blur. It was a very awkward but good conversation because we had decided to stay friends. Ever since that convo, I started believing that there's someone else better, someone else more willing to take care of my fragile heart. Cody was meant for somebody else, and I was meant for..

Joe.

"I'd moved on. He's part of my past now, but the good thing is, we're friends."

Dallas smiled at me. "Good to know. But my point is, Im not letting anyone make you cry a river again.. like what Cody did to you before."

"You're such a big sis!" I laughed. "I'll be fine, Dallas. You're worrying too much. Crying or getting hurt is part of our lives. We should consider that."

"And you're such a martyr." She laughed with me. "Sometimes, Im in doubt whether I'm you're big sis, or you're my big sis. You're just way too mature."

We let few seconds to pass, laughing with each other. Then silence sat with us on the couch. It was pretty awkward, but it was a good time to think straightly all the things that mattered. I didn't thought Dallas would be worrying for me this much. I never noticed she had been looking out for me the whole time, like how Selena look out for me. And I guess this was something I should be thankful for.

"Thanks for being here, Dallas." I'd managed to give her the sweetest smile I could ever show. "You rock."

She laughed. "No matter what I do, you're still the rockstar here."

"And that's very true."

"Good. you're loving yourself more often." She laughed hardly.

"Very. Funny." I said sarcastically.
