No, I was John cale's version in the film itself, though Rufus Wainwright's version was used on the soundtrack Cd, something to do with him being under contract with the same company that released the film

@EmperorHilo & NickTrousers, it was actually Rufus Wainwright's rendition in the Shrek movie. Although Cales version is rather splendid, you should investigate Jeff Buckleys beautifuly haunting offering, for the ultimate version!
