@TheoryByDesign Naw bro, social programs aren't what's wrong with your economy and removing all protections from workers, getting rid of all taxes and regulations on corporations, and getting rid of all remaining barriers to outsourcing is going to destroy your country. Meanwhile you'll have old people in poor houses like they used to be if you get rid of SSI, and you're gonna get old bro, so you'd better pray you're rich when you do because under the plan you advocate you're gonna need to be.

@Laughingblades I think you're just trying to play devils advocate now and I'm fine with that. Do you want me to continue playing you're little game? In reality I never said i was against old people in the first place lol.
-
@TheoryByDesign Social programs aren't the cause of your countries problems, and private insurance exists to make a profit not to take care of you. They could fool enough people with propaganda to keep them paying in while finding every excuse available not to cover people when they need it, and they do. Also most private insurance won't take care of you for the rest of your life, and how are the disabled supposed to afford private insurance?
-
@TheoryByDesign Ok, well millions of human lives depend on SSI, those are millions of people who need a regular income to survive. What do you think should happen to those people? Also do you object to ALL taxation, including taxation for military defense and infrastructure, or do you only object to taxation meant to keep you from dying in the gutter when you get old?
Are you going to feed millions of elderly and disabled people out of the goodness of your heart?
-
@Laughingblades This gives people a choice because personally I would not pay into SSI if I didn't have too. I can setup my own retirement through smart investing. I don't like the government poking its nose in my business or trying to make me do something I don't want or need to do. I like Liberty and don't like a government to steal money from my pockets through taxation... end of story.
-
@Laughingblades I agree, not all governments are bad as long as they stay withing the confines of the constitution. A governments job is to protect the rights of the people.
When government programs are out of the mix and government spending is dwindled down, that ultimately gives more money to the private sector. Churches however are not the answer. Private insurance companies can maintain a lot of these programs on their own. Instead of paying government, buy SSI insurance before retire

@TheoryByDesign Ok first the leave it to charity argument killed countless people before we had SSI, people stop giving to charity when they can't even feed their kids, you're talking about millions of people who would need a regular income, and churches are largely dependent on SSI withdrawing donors as it is (tax that I say).
And yes government can be more effective than private programs on some things, our government is broken and needs fixing though. Not all government is this bad.
-
@TheoryByDesign No, food stamps are a safety net to protect poor people from starving to death.
And yes, government can afford it, if we diverted a tenth of our military spending to SSI and slashed out a lot of the bureaucratic waste that isn't necessary for it to function, we could extend it indefinitely in fact.
The government doesn't have to borrow money to fund our social programs (roads, SSI, schools, fire & police services), it does to run an empire.
Persistent charity for millions? No.
-
@Laughingblades Simple question... Are foodstamps charity in your opinion?
Another question: Do you think the government funding SSI is stable? Can they afford it? Do you think SSI is paid for with tax payers dollars or with government borrowed money?
Do you think all people are evil and will not help each other without a government dictating it?
Do you think government programs are better than private programs? Why?
I love your enthusiasm, but I just want to advise against #12 spam idea. We want to promote Ron Paul with intelligence and reasoning, not with level-headed spam messages.

Put him in some hip hop videos, that's what all the idiots are watching who are old enough to vote. I'm not saying that you are an idiot if you vote for Ron Paul, not at all. It has become clear to me that the stupid vote makes a big difference. Just look at the last election.
