  • It wound up being a bad ECM (electronics communication module), which is in essence the "brain" of the car, telling what things to do and when. Someone from GM flew out from headquarters to diagnose. They replaced the ECM (under full warranty, and covering loaners during the fix), and no problems since then. We're coming up on 10,000 miles, and it's been a great car so far!

  • The Acadia has held up really well, better than I expected thus far. This is my first time to buy a domestic car (yes, admittedly, an import snob up to now). While the finishing touches aren't as refined as in a Lexus or Volvo, there are elements and details very similar to a BMW X5 (e.g. lines and two-tone passenger dash). In the interior, nothing has broken, great in snow (we got 18 inches two weeks ago, 8 inches last week and expecting another 10 tomorrow evening) and very comfortable.

  • We looked at a Pilot, Highlander, Q7, X5, ML, Range Rover and others. The Acadia is the only one that has: 1) captains chairs in the 2nd row + 2) fold flat, splt 3rd row + 3) LATCH anchors in the 3rd row. After some diagnostics at the GMC dealership, it was a bad ECM (electronics control module), that wasn't sending the start command to the starter engine. Once replaced, the car works great! Granted, it should've been like that off the line, but it was all under warranty. The car is great.

  • The car is under warranty.... Just take the sucker to the dealership...

  • @kellah6969 yea i was gonna say the samething your battery might have been low and by pressing the break your turning on your break lights before the engine even turns on

  • dont touch the break when you start or shut off the vehicle .. i bet thats whats making it do that ..

  • Any other issues with it? We are purchasing a new car in a few weeks, either the Acadia or the Volvo XC90. I love the 2nd row captains chairs - but when we inspected the interior, some of the parts seemed low quality, like the door lock buttons seem like they could brake, and the door handle seems like it could snap - your interior holding up well? Thanks!

  • great car. Honda pilot= crap

  • I just took home a 2011 Acadia today...I've always preferred Honda's, but the 2011 pilot has horrible ratings....under powered, old features...it's time to revamp that grandpa!

  • Should have bought a Pilot or Highlander in the first place & you would not have this issue!!!!!
