  • From the rust pattern on the hood, it looks like there may have been an underhood fire..the car looks complete! Was it insured, and do you have the title...if you do you may have to get an engine transplant, but that wouldn't seem to be all that much of a problem. The car looks very restorable! Is there a cable release for the hood inside the car?? :) Jack

  • there is a latch under the hood ,but it wont budge , and when i pull up on the hood it goes up about 2 in. then stops. I think the person who towed it might have locked it onto something from the inside, anything come to mind that would help?

  • Top of the line Electra and I hope somebody fixes it up. Nope, no cup holders. They didn't exist back then.

  • its under the center of the front bumper you have to pull it and push up the hood

  • i like the dark color but a midnight blue would look better my electra 72 is dirty green and im sanding it down the vinyl top came off 3 holes the size of my fist rusted the top of the car i just fiberglassed it ready to sand it i want all white inside but i dont know if i should just go factory who else hates green?

  • Gee..I'm no expert on this...but I would think that if it isn't leaking, and it's not making noise, I would leave it alone, except for maybe changing fluid (make sure they use the right kind as mentioned in the owner's manual). :) Jack

  • The Firebird is halfway complete, and would you recommend takeing the axle apart on the buick?

  • How do you repair torn leather?? you can see it at 1:35 on the seating.

  • I'd do a nice modern black with clear coat...the interior looks very salvageable..the weakest area may be the door panels, and they might have to be reupholstered. The seating would probably really respond to a good quality upholstery cleaner. From what I can see, if the vinyl top is in good condition with no indications of rust underneath, I'd keep it as is..maybe redye black.. :) Jack

  • What kind of paint job would you give this car???, glossy, original?, if original would you keep it black and everything else original such as the interior?

  • Thx, that sounds exactly correct 2 how the hood gets stuck!

  • Another thing it could be is that the GM hood latches had a double catch (safety reasons) it's kind of a two stage thing. On my 70 Cadillac you pull up on the latch to release it from the latch pegs and then you have to push really hard on the latch handle again once it's up to get the second latch free. When this happens I only get about two inches of clearance so this is my theory as to why you have the problem. The guy I bought my car from used a chain w/pad lock secured to the bumper.
