Stags locked in battle, arguably the most beautiful beetles in the world, from the rainforests of northern Queensland Australia. These stag beetles are tossers! the mandibles have evolved to toss rival males off rather than pierce the armour as the head is too narrow to generate enough leverage, furthermore the base of the mandible is tothed and is used to snip the tasus or feet off rival males. So that basically means the biggest tosser gets all the food and the girl...
