  • LesPaulGold1, your an idiot. The Eagles sing Hotel California the best. Not some reggae shit.

  • Don Felder is an excellent musician but he himself has said on video that he had only the first part of the music. He played it for Frey and Henley and they liked it. The music is Felder okay? But it took a team effort of Felder, Frey, and Henley to come up with all the parts of the song that would become Hotel California. Felder did not finish it by himself. It also took the great harmony parts to give it that special sound. I think drugs and booze split the Eagles. They talk about it.

  • @bluesrockfanatic Smith deserves respect for being a great musician but he's not Don Felder so he can't possibly get as much respect -- Don Felder is a better player IMHO, but the point is he was there in the very beginning and he came up with a lot of stuff that defined what the Eagles sound was to be, and all there were all the hits and everything. Timothy B. Schmitt and Joe Walsh, despite being employees which in fact they are, are as respectable as Felder, Henley and Frey. Don't puke!!!

  • There has been alot of speculation about the Eagles history here, but Liquidlighting1 comments seems to be the reliable source for the facts.

  • Felder was railroaded......Frey ran the eagles like a tyrant.....Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Don Felder......You mean to tell me they were all wrong and Frey was right.....I don't think so.....Maybe if they were all a bunch of second hand musicians.....But they were the best, the cream of the crop.....They could have played in any band in the world !!!

  • @bluesrockfanatic absolutely. In the video of them in Melbourne he was the one working out on the double necked 12 string that sounds so awesome. He literally replaced Don Felder at least on that song, so yes, he should be included.

  • @eriksoer Felder has a large following who despise the Eagles because they feel he was given a bad deal with their split up. He was a partner, how can you fire a partner? After some legal action the Eagles had to cough up some dough. The actual amount was never disclosed but it hurt them in the pocket book. Which is probably fair.

Bottom line, Felder is still great without the Eagles, the Eagles are still great without Felder.

  • @flintstone9812 Felder is frustrated in the Eagles. Great guitar player though. The Eagles gave him an oppertunity of a lifetime jioning their already supersuccesfull band. Who cares who wrote the song. It is, as in any band a group effort that bends or breaks the outcome of a song eventually. Indeed drugs broke up the Eagles in the first place no rivalery over songs. Listen again to desperado and argue what is their best song again.

  • Oh and Steuart Smith should be declared as an Eagle.

  • Don Felder only wrote the guitar riff, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey did the vocals and drum arrangements. It wasn't just Felder who wrote this song. Also, I don't know what it is about people ripping on Steuart Smith but Steuart deserves just as much respect as Felder did. I'm a huge Eagles fan and I watch alot of their interviews. I'm not saying that this is a competition between who is the biggest Eagles fan but alot of youtubers are so full of shit, that I could just puke.

  • Henley and Frey are pieces of shit... they screwed over don felder...BOYCOTT THESE SHOWS! THey are greedy, filthy beasts. They pretend to be caring people, but they are dirty scumbags.

  • @jackstpaul I said the music was Felder. I watched a video where he talked about it.

The music was Felder, the music was Felder, the music was Felder.

Did I make it clear that time?

The guitar parts are essential to the song but there needs to drum and harmony to make it an Eagles song. Felder was the catalyst, the spark plug for that song. Without his initial input it would never have come into existence. But it is not his alone in its finished form.
