I beg to differ....I wonder if you ever listened to Genesis' seventies songs like 'The Battle Of Epping Forest' or 'Dance On A Volcano'....Highly technical and complexely structured drumming there. Just give it a spin, if you'd like.
Kind regards

There weren't many bands this progressive back then, this is still such a great album. Passion Play is good too but I like this one better.

I was a drummer also for 25 years though I don't play much anymore. Phil Collins never played anything as technical or structured as Thick As A Brick. He is more of a groove guy than Barlow. He couldn't pull this off.

I respect what you said...I am not sure how familiar you are with Collins' drumming...my personal opinion is that most of Collins' 80's drumming is VERY simplistic compared to his 70's drumming...plus Collins played jazz fusion with Brand X (while he was with Genesis)...TaaB has its intricate and technical moments - but (being familiar with Collins' 70's drumming) I feel that Collins could have at least matched Barlow...but again I STILL admire Barlow's skills...
