I danced to this tune in Italy a long time ago. My Italian boy friend told me, it is a very naughty song and I should not sing it! In the Neapolitan dialect ´pensé´ the flower stands for something else, so please beware, he said. I leave it to your imagination.

Grazie for your description of this excellent song-for many many years I have liked RC ever since my [english] parents bought a couple of his LP records back in the late 50s-the nearest they ever got to Pop! Panse is Pansy in english! I am sure I am one of the very few people in england who have ever heard of him and his music although one does occasionally hear Tu Vuo Fa L'Americano on the radio because it was in a movie. I have even found many Italian people dont know his name! Ciao Tim

@tim60s321 hi tim! this is basically a love song in which the singer asks a girl for a "pansè", that's a flower, a violet (I don't really know the english name). The girl has this flower on her dress, he has got another similar violet on his jacket, so he would like to have them both on that to remember the love for the girl. The chorus is about "what a beautiful violet you've got, can you give it to me?", and the answer is: "no!" :D. I hope you find my comment helpful, bye bye :)
