What do you do to get your server hostname, and the server port?

If you mean what server do you connect to? Then it's upto you. There are servers for games, for tech-stuff, etc. On most websites that have an irc server, there will be a domain like .... irc.domain.com, that's the server hostname.

I use Swiftkit, which uses SwiftIRC. This is mainly for World of Warcraft, Runescape, and also has channels for tech-help.

So the server would be; irc.swiftirc.net, but the port isn't important.
