What this will create once the machine is activated will be a live link between the past from the point when the machine is first activated to the ongoing future where the machine will be kept on perpetually, it might also be possible to send actual information back to and up to the past to where the machine first starts to work which could be even more useful.

Still worried about time travel paradoxes. In the context of chaos, sending even a particle into the past - even into a parallel universe that slightly interacts with ours - could change everything... The time travelling butterfly effect, if you will.

A few physicists thought that testing the A-bomb could catch the atmosphere on fire. Obviously, it didn't. Still, testing the thing in the face of even a nominal possibility that such a huge consequence might occur was quite an arrogant act.
