http://www.MyBluHorizon.com .This My Blu Horizon video of Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park was shot from a nearby hillside just south of Grand Prismatic Spring. Grand Prismatic Spring is located in the Midway Geyser Basin along with a number of other hot springs and somewhat dormant Geysers. The spring itself is approximately 370 feet in diameter is located at 44 degrees 3124.56 N , 110 degrees 5023.53W and is the largest hot spring in the United States. It is also listed as the third largest hot spring in the world behind the two largest hot springs in New Zealand.
Midway Geyser Basin is accessible from Grand Loop Road by either a parking lot just to the north east or Fairy Falls Trail to the South. The hillside from where this video was shot was accessed from Fairy Falls Trail. From this vantage point you can see the vibrant brilliance of the various colors from Grand Prismatic Spring.
The colors themselves are actually algae and pigmented bacteria that thrive in the different levels of the heat around the spring. You'll see the deep blues in the center fading into green on the outer edges of the spring into yellows, oranges and reds.
The water discharged from Grand Prismatic Spring is expelled at about 560 gallons per minute at a temperature of approximately 160 degrees F from the 250 x 370 foot spring. If you visit the spring early in the morning youll see a heavy veil of steam rising from the spring, at times literally clouding over the entire spring.
My Blu Horizons video of Grand Prismatic Spring was shot in 1080i and formatted to fit a variety of digital media. @minkeysmom good afternoon, I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. The spring is located at midway geyser basin, which is north of Old Faithful on Grand Loop Rd. Just south of Midway Geyser basin is the entrance to Fairy Falls and Fairy Creek Trail. You'll take the trail about a half a mile towards Fairy Falls and you'll see the spring on the right side, north, of the trail and the hillside where I shot the video is on the left side or south side of the trail, Enjoy, MyBluHorizon
