t/a 6.6 came with 3.23 gears never 3.08 and 3.42 in 4 speed 1978 cars .Thought id set the facts straight.

@jarretthise Pontiac blocks were all the same size. However you are dead wrong on Buick and Olds. #1 The Buick 350 is certainly a small block w/ deck height of just over 10 inchs.Buick big blocks were 400,430,455 w/ deck just over 10.5. Not sure about wildcats and nailheads. #2 The Olds 260,307,350,and 403 are small blocks with 9.33 deck height. The 400 and 455 olds big blocks have a taller deck(10.625) and are heavier than the 403 and other small blocks...just a little correct info for you

pontiac, buick and olds didnt have a "small block" "big block" it was a small journal and big journal on the crank. the blocks are all the SAME except for the bore and stroke from the crank.. just a little info for you

what did you mean by "rubbing" when you were talking about the rims?
In 1979 you could get the 400 Pontiac (T/A 6.6) engine with the 4 speed. The standard car was a (6.6 litter) 403 Oldsmobile engine.
The T/A 6.6 car had 220hp the 6.6 car had 185hp. The WS6 option was a handling package that included 4 wheel disc brakes and a slightly lower rear end gear, 3.08 vs. 2.73. That same year the camaro had 175hp, but had a 3.42 rear gear and was a match for the base car only. The 400 is a big block, the 403 a quick revving small block. The 403 with the WS6 package wa
