Tips for sculpting hair

I have a model that I am starting and I'm not sure what to do for the hair. I know ZBrush has some nice sculpting for that sort of thing but I need the hair to be more alive because this model is going to be used for animation.
Can I create hair in ZBrush that I can animate or should I just use Maya's hair feature for that?

Thanks a lot! It's really useful, and I love how you take your time to explain things in a calm and slow way, doesn't happen often :p

@VisionXtream cool! that's the kind of thing I aim for. Sculpting is sculpting. :)

It is rare and truly refreshing to learn from an artist with a true understanding of the medium. Beautiful work Ryan.

Awsome technique, i did hair once in fun and i used only the rake brush but this method is alot better.

@TheIcemanModdeler I love the rake brush. I remember, before the development of the Clay brush, that artists would often ask me how to get a sculpting rake-like effect into ZBrush.
Before the Clay brush it just wasn't possible. Once the dev team made the clay brush, though, it took me one full day to create the Rake brush by playing with settings and alphas. I was so happy at the end of that day! Now a days, though, I'm in love with Clay Buildup. Great brush when Lazy Step is set to .05.
