@Blackbull1515 - I related to the first part of your statement, and yes, it is sad that Blacks are now killing each other wholesale--we learned quite well from the massa --but what we need now is a spiritual and moral re-awakening. Your suggestion that if we were still in slavery we wouldnt be killing each other---is INSANE! So, its better that we be re-captured, enslaved (by the way, that's what the penal system is for) and then, let massa kill us OUTRIGHT?

When I hear this song and I am alone tears just roll down my cheeks, for two reasons, one is the way we were use as a slave and after. Two the way blacks are killing each other. If we were still in slavery we wouldn't be killing each other, think about it.

I LOVE SINGING AND LISTENING TO THIS SONG IT BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES OF SLAVERY, AND RACISM FOR THOSE THAT DNT NO ABOUT BLACK HISTORY YOU NEED TO GO TO THE LIBRARY AND READ UP ON HOW WE WAS TREATED LIKE GARBAGE, LIKE WE DIDNT EVEN EXCIST TO USA
This song has stood the test of time. It is still relevant even now...especially now. I was listening to this and watching the video with my daughter and she couldn't understand the black only and white only parts of the footage but she said to that this it's such a shame that we had to endure such heartache and pain but it's still happening today it's not over it's just not the way it was. This song is so sad but so hopeful and so is life.

Everytime I hear this song and have for years I choke up what has happend to our world everywhere we look there is hate in everyform. As a latin woman I have had many doors slammed in my face or endured a man's dirty word. Of course it is nothing compared to what a black person has endured. I had hoped that a change was taking place but how quickly that was taken away with the so called Tea Party MoMovement. thank you for being hopeful I am trying everyday to achive it.
