@Thedearster It's a High Concert C "D for Bb instruments" and played at FFF. :P It's gonna be slightly hard to play without cracking :P
-
@Thedearster dude this part of the song is so intense...I don't blame him lol

At 2:39 did anyone hear the trumpet crack the note?

It isn't slow! The "Jarvi's way" is so Shostakovich. Bravo Maestro!
-
2:32 1st trumpet needs to get his ass back in there during this type of ending!!
-
@violaboy2890 haha if you want it faster, check out bernstein's :D...he got into a debate with shostakovich as to how fast it should be!

The 2010 TMEA full symphony orchestra spent two days and learned this full symphony. They performed it flawlessly at the henry b gonzalez center today at 7. The conductor explained that the last movement was misprinted - 176 per eighth not quarter. Playing it slow makes it sound tragic just like shoshtakovich intended. Playing at bernsteins speed makes it sound triumphant as if he were praising soviet russia. He wanted the exact opposite.

Much as I like Bernstein's agitated version, this one here is much closer to what Shostakovich wanted in terms of the tempo.
