Here are the game I've been playing for the week of 09-20-09.

The first pic is a three year old pic of my collection which has grown quite a bit in the last three years.

The Games:

Bioshock (PS3)-

I finally beat Bioshock this week. I got the happy ending because I decided to save all the little sisters throughout the game. Other than that, I pretty much already said All I need to say in last week's vid.

Mass Effect (Xbox 360)-

I'm only showing the beginning of the game, because the part I'm currently at doesn't make for an exciting vid.

I'm only about three and a half hours into this game. I like it, but I keep getting distracted from it by other games. It's to where it's hard for me to get into the game again, because I've forgotten where I was by the time I come back around. So far it's a really good game, but I just need to give it more of my time to fully enjoy it more.

Mercenaries 2 (PS3)-

"Oh no you didn't."

I actually never got around to playing the original Mercenaries on the PS2 and Xbox (but will probably go back and enjoy it after I'm done with the sequel), but I'm really enjoying this one. From what the fans have told me the previous game was better, but even so, I'm having a blast blowing s*** up.

I just wish more games would allow for more environmental destruction like this game does.

My only real complaint, as with other GTA sandbox games with missions, is the damn driving missions where you can't harm or destroy your vehicle. That drives me apes***, because I'm reckless as heell in these games, and I'm unapologetic about it. You're supposed to destroy stuff, and throw away as many vehicles as you please.

PO'ed (PS1 but played on my PS3, and not my PS2, because my PS2 couldn't read the first level, because the disk has been scratched doctored, but my PS3 read it just fine)-

I finally bought this game from Amazon. I actually bought it last week for the 3DO, but it turns out my 3DO's laser reader is stuck in place and won't read the disk, so I re-bought it for the PS1 this week, and have been playing and enjoying it.

It's an unconventional FPS to say the least. In the game instead of playing as a badass marine, you're playing as a cook, and you've got a number of unconventional weapons, (most of which do the same things as in games like doom, but have an unconventional look to them), some very unconventional enemies (the but buys kinda look like Buttginas), and the most important thing, a jet pack.

The levels so far aren't as in-depth as Doom's levels, but due to the emphasis on the jet pack in the game, they've got a more vertical design to them. It's a decent oldshool FPS game, and is worth a look if you're still into oldschool shooters.

The level shown in the vid however is just the training level, I figured that it gets the point of the game across quite well.

Streets of Rage 2 (PS3 on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection)-

(This is played on very hard, because I don't have a second PS3 controller to turn on Mania)

What can I say, I love this game. It's one of my favorite games of all time. I know that SoR stole a lot from Final Fight, but I like it ten times better the FF (which is still a great beat 'em up series).

There's something about Streets of Rage 2 that is still so addictive to me. People complain that Beat 'em ups are so repetitive, but there's something so addictive about this game to me. I can't get enough. I could play it every day, and never get tired of it. Over the years, I've probably put more hours on SoR2 then I have on any RPG I've ever played. I've played it that much.

Even my sisters love Streets of Rage 2. I've still got it for the Genesis, and the bastardized sound version of the Sega Smash Pack.

  • teh2dgamer, what do you think of BioShock 2?

  • @hl202 Haven't gotten around to buying it as of yet.

  • is it true that if u save the first little sister and harvest the rest u get the good ending?

  • That one I couldn't say. I just saved all of them, so I don't know.

  • Mass Effect's elevators are unbearable. Even with the game installed, they're just as long (The elevator ride is actually played real-time, and not adapted to the loading time).

I suggest that whenever possible, avoid them and use the Rapid transit system terminals instead.

Those are actually slightly shorter when installed (If I'm not just imagining that) and a lot shorter than the elevator rides.

  • I know, I just had to show the famous Mass Effect Elevators though.

  • I just noticed I've been playing the same games recently. At least streets of rage, bioshock and mass effect. I am playing mass effect the most though, it is quite good.

  • Hell of a lot of GOOD games might I add!

  • i gotta tell you, if your going to get mercs one, get it on the Xbox, i have the ps2 version and it is pretty buggy, and i belive the xbox version is MUCH better in that area
