@spelunkerd The vent tube is on the shifter housing. No spreader needed. The crush sleave on this one is a BEAST to crush. When the slop in the bearing is gone you stop crushing. You can do it with a vise and a hammer, but I strongly recommend a press for control.

This is surprisingly similar to the Dana 44, though I have never gone after that pinion seal. Is there a vent tube for this axle that you should check for patency? Did you need to use a spreader to get the diff back in? How do you get the correct torque/compression for that crush washer? If you don't have a press, can you do this job with hand tools?

@CODxFUNxMAN I have a few of them. Intake manifold gasket videos and head gasket videos.
Good Video! Lots of useful information.

Not a bad how to vid. But maybe you should get your "lovely assistant" to help with the recording. Just saying. Anyway, I'm getting ready to do my TJ Dana 44 front axle pinion bearings and seal. I dialed up this vid to see the spacifics on the how to put the pinion nut back to proper torque specs or get it close WITHOUT a torque wrench. One vid I saw said you should be able to spin the yolk about three times with a "flick of the wrist" when there is proper torque on the new bearings, (PRELOAD).

@ironreign44 Truthfully I'm lucky to get what help I did from my "lovely assistant." She was much more game to help and hang out when we were dating. Now.... I'll take what I can get.

@chrism1367 Back in the 1990's we had AMAZING roads to climb. No you have to drive 4 hours to Moab, Utah to get good climbing action. The Federal Gov't closed all the roads to prevent erosion.... and the roads all went soft and eroded away into ditches.
