@cowboysteel ... Jean Simmons the actress, NOT Gene Simmons the rock star.

The husband and wife team from the second season was David Moesinger and Jeri Taylor. Jeri Taylor is now famous for creating Star Trek: Voyager.

Carroll was a man of principles. A rare thing indeed.

Love the show, love Carroll, thanks for doing this interview & posting it. Interesting that Carroll's favorite episode was also one that I really liked and probably my fave as well, about the condemned man (A Trip Upstate). The description he gives is good but you have to see it to appreciate it. The ending is searing and will challenge anyone's opinions on the death penalty. So much to love about this series. Carroll seemed sad that "Hollywood" didn't recognize the show. But many people did.

The kidnapping episode Carroll is referring to here didn't involve voodoo but rather, he was kidnapped by a white supremacist group. This concluded season 2. I think the 4 episodes with the temporary replacement actor wasn't nearly as bad as Carroll claims here. But it was refreshing when Chief Gillespie returned to the fold and things were back to normalcy.

@hamtrak - What was Road Kill about? I saw season one but don't remember what that particular episode dealt with. One thing I thought was so interesting was Bubba's character. Season 1 he was hard core racist but by season 2 he was mellowing out and winded up becoming friends with the Tibbs. I thought that was very cool as I've witnessed a similar scenario in real life with people I know.

Loved the show, loved the actors when it was filmed here. I also loved how the actors and crew cared for Covington.

Yes he was! He was great in this Character. I wish I could have known him, personally. He just seems like a wonderful person to be around.

Thank God Simpson didn't get the part and it went to Howard Rollins Jr.
