These are the ingredients for goldfish gel food that I use for feeding my goldfish.

I am very grateful to my friend www.thegab.com founder for teaching me nutritional facts and gel food making.

I have been feeding my fish this gel food for a couple of months now.

See video for the raw ingredients used and the end result.

1. 1lb Green peas
2. 6 table spoons of oat meal.
3. 4 table spoons of Saki Hikari Koi food (Optional)
4. 1 small bag of unflavored gelatin
5. 2 pieces of Tilapia
6. 1 table spoon of Thai Fish Sauce

Apart from hikari koi food the result is all boiled together for at least 15 minutes.

Put in blender and blend to liquid.

Add hikari koi food grounded to powder with small coffee grinder.

Mix well. The end result of the dish can be seen in the video below.

Wait until the mixture cools down. Hmmm ... Yummy.... the dinner is served.:D

  • Seems a waste of time to go to all that work - just feed the Hikari.

  • @bullseyek Thanks. Its for advanced level goldfish hobbyist not for the beginners. For a beginner Hikari is fine. I do not recommend this food for a beginner anyway coz custom food requires observation on your fish and making adjustments. I was a skeptic like you. Why bother when I can feed Hikari. Once you started having over Hundreds of fish and feeding Hikari is no longer an option. Also the health and growth is way superior with Custom Gel Food than you can ever get with any Hikari.

  • how do you store it or save it?

  • @klett69 I put them in plastic containers and store them in Freezer.

  • oh, another questions, when you say boiled together, do i need to add water? If so, how much?

  • @hirocaster I put it in lunch boxes and put them in the freezer. I put the box that I am feeding into the fridge.

  • If you better knew the journey those GV Peas took before you fed them to your fish you might not have used them...I'm j.s.

  • @hirocaster Yes you will need to add water. I never measure how much water I put in. I believe about 3 to 4 cups of water. Put fish, green peas, oat meal, gelatin, fish sauce and boil and stir. After about 15 minutes put everything into the blender including soup and blend. If you are adding hikari fish food or spirulina powder add them while you blend. Then put it in to the fridge to cool down. After it is cooled down you can serve it to the fish. Feed as much as 6 -8 times a day.

  • Do you add some oil?

  • Why do you use exactly tilapia? What do you think about other types of fish?
