The "Rasganço" (Ripping) is an ancient tradition with more than 700 years old and it's performed only by the senior students in their last year of the University of Coimbra.

This tradition represents the end of the life as a student.
The student's uniform is ripped to shreds by their closest friends.
They are now ready to be productive members of society and start looking for a job!

Students: Lúcia Silva and Joana Silva.

Produced and shot on the 24th of July by: Paulo Fajardo & Gonçalo Ermida.

Spoken language: Portuguese.

Notes: Everybody in this video agreed to be in it. The footage and sound were compressed for the upload. The songs performed by the "Tuna Mondeguinas" group are freely adapted from popular Portuguese music.
