  • @ rowervhs Good to know, thx. I don't have any hope for coxless pairs 1987 as the race wasn't broadcast in Italy that year. 2+ might be somewhere, but I don't have it ready.

  • *All* of the others would most probably have beaten the sh** out of you (and me, of course) in any boat class, so they deserve your (and our) respect for being in an Olympic final.

  • ...yesterday I had a good drink with Jaak Van Driessche (5th)

  • These people who made the Olympic finals do actually exist! :^) I also happened to be in the same boat with some of them from time to time, but they really are in a different league. Cheers!

  • Andrieux-Rolland from France - Olympic champions 8 years later in one of the best races of all time !

  • Yeah, see also 1991. I still have to put a comment here. 2000 was one of the bravest efforts I've ever seen. I recall watching it live and thinking "they're crazy, they'll never make it to the finish!". But they did. Their attack at 750 still gives me shivers when I see that race.

  • Hi Sculler, If the mens 2 + might be somewhere would you please have a good search for me just to make sure if you do or do not have it.

  • Hi there, Just to let you know I have put up on youtube some of the races from the 1993 world champs. Do you have footage of steve redgrave in the mens coxed and coxless pairs from the 1987 world champs.

  • Ok, the French win in 2000 was a better race but this is quite simply the best rowing performance in an Olympic Final that I've ever seen.

If they'd doubled up I'm convinced they would have beaten the Abbagnale's too

  • Has anyone got this in English?

I don't give a wotsit about the others, but Redgrave and Pinsent? Best pair ever.

  • You're right !
