@GiselleM713 Most large birds can live up to 80 years. Cockatoos around 60 - 70 years.

I have 15 year old male and he's just as snuggly and would let you love on him all day. And that's hogwash about not petting them under the wings! The feathers don't have feeling but the body does and they love to be petted and talked to and played with. They can be very rowdy and destructive too. Oh - and very very spoiled. LOL! Ziggy worships the ground I walk on and I have to be in his site at all times. He follows me from room to room if not on me.

@kutjeprakkie: The cockatoo you met in a store that picks it's wings up for you to pet underneath...fyi that's a sexual behavior in cockatoos. If a cockatoo picks it's wings up like that for you to pet, you shouldn't oblige. That type of behavior can lead to a really nasty bite as (especially males) cockatoos are very sexually aggressive. Male 'toos have been known to kill their female mates. Be careful!!

They are oh soo noisy when they want atttention but soo cuddly, i'll stick with my sun conure, for now.

wow, so cute!! :D i never knew how cuddly they could be till i met one in a store and now he always lifts up his wings for me to pat him underneath. i have lots more saving up to do though.. keep spreading the cockatoo love! ;)
