Matt Maher had marriage in mind when he wrote this song ("New State of Mind"). However, it drew me more to the heart of Mary--the Spouse of the Holy Spirit--and Mother of us all. :) Please share to spread devotion to Mary, "Help of Christians." After listening to this song a couple of times, my thoughts went to it being about the Blessed Virgin as well and I had been trying to find out who Matt meant it to be about. It could very easily be about both. The first time I heard 'My Only Love" was at one of his live shows and he talked about how he wrote it one night when he was worrying about his vocation. Then he played it again but this time to imagine that it was from the perspective of the Lord talking about us, his Church.

@rtrainqu I couldn't agree more! That's the blessing of Christian music. Like some of the books of the Bible, you can take the perspective from many different places. God to the soul, the soul to God, God to His Church, a husband to his bride. You said it so well! Thank you and God bless you all! :)
