Off of Harry Nilsson's "Sandman." I've written out the lyrics, since I couldn't find them anywhere online. But there's a part that always got me, where Nilsson quotes a Mother Goose poem, "Monday's Child is Fair of Face."
He says, "Monday's child is full of face."
I don't know what that's about. My friend has this album on vinyl and I'm pretty sure that the lyrics on the inside of the album cover say "full of grace." So that's what I put.
here's why i did not go to work today
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
thursday has its own peculiar way
of saying hey
sometimes thursday almost
makes you want to run away
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
yeah, thursday's such a crazy lazy day
let's go have a picnic
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
hope it doesn't rain
when i'm feeling thursday
i go and have a drink
if thursday was a boat
i'd let it sink
i did it on monday
i tried it on tuesday
wednesday's simply not my cup of tea
thank heaven it's friday
thank the lord for the weekend
but thursday is such a crazy lazy day
they say monday's child is full of grace
tuesday's child is fair of face
thursday's child has far to go
and it's no wonder
when the week becomes a rat race
you can bet win, show, or place
but never bet on thursday
cause god's not on its case
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
don't get me wrong
it's just that thursday's twice as long as it should be
it's twice as long
monday's tuesdays, weekends, fridays
don't get in my way
but thursday's such a crazy lazy day
monday is a blues day
that goes for tuesday
wednesday's just the middle of the week, yeah
friday's just another payday
the weekend's just another heyday
but thursday's surreptitiously unique
that's why i didn't go to work today
thursday's got its own peculiar way
of saying hey
sometimes thursday makes you want to run away
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
thursday's such a crazy lazy day
I never did care much for Thursdays and here Harry puts It all in perspective with this lazy blues/jazz concoction that only harry could deliver! Thanks Harry

Love this song...especially how it transitions in from The Ivy Covered Walls.

I love this song. I uploaded it too but my upload is blocked due to copyrights. LOL. I don't get why mine is blocked and yours isn't. :P

Nilsson & Lennon playing pool...on Thursday?

yes - you wrote the children's poem correctly, but Harry didn't sing it correctly in the recording. For some unknown reason (since I've heard he's a terrible perfectionist), he chose to leave the recording as it stands.
That album was brilliant with wit and whimsy, with this song and Jesus Christ You're Tall and How to Write a Song ("If you write with your guitar, take your guitar upon your knee. If you write on a piano, don't do that!").
Brilliant!
