Burning City

I've always wanted to create a matte painting but I never got to doing it. This project had probably the longest rendertimes in After Effects of every project I've ever worked on. I will have a blog post about this shot out soon.
I did everything myself, except for the music which was created by Tim Colla.

Oh you have no idea, it was awefull working on it in the end, it took about 30 seconds to render one frame in ram. I had to wait that time every time I made a small adjustment like changing a curve or something.

Just a few thoughts... consider feathering the edges of your buildings so they do not stand out with 'cookie cutter' effect. I don't know if the original photography was so high contrast, but if not, try bringing back midtones. And the farther something is away from the camera, i.e., in the background, the more muted the colors.The black of the person's back would not be exactly the same black as the buildings & cliff shadows.... Overall, a pretty neat clip.
