Get your facts straight. The USDA DID NOT close down the Celebration. I am amazed at the lack of ignorance that mental midgets like yourself like to claim to know about this breed.

I love the crazy lady in the background screaming "boooo". Classy.

Anyone who think the big lick looks impressive must think people on crutches are really attractive.

I LOVE the Big Lick I think it's magnificent display or power beauty and awesomeness.... You all are just jealous that your horses are sorry that they CAN'T do what these athletes are doing!! Not every horse can do the Big Lick and it makes those who can and do it well worth Hundreds of Thousands to over a Million dollars! How much can you sell your back yard pleasure horse for? maybe $5,000 HA! THE PEOPLE that go PAY MONEY to go to the shows WANT TO SEE THE BIG LICK, hundreds of thousands!

WE ALL KNOW THE OFFICALS USDA INCLUEDED ARE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR -- IF NOT, WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE ME HAVE TO GATHER THE EVIDENCE AND SHOVE IT IN THE USDA'S FACE TO MAKE THEM DO THEIR JOB--- YES IT IS CRIMINAL- OUT OF THIS GROUP OF HORSES HOW MANY DO YOU THINK ARE LAME NOW? I BET YOU MY DIME TO YOUR DOLLAR THE ANSWER IS ALL OF THEM .. SO SAD AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 5 ...... SORING IS A CANCER IN THE TWH COMMUNITY THAT MANY IGNORE... CAMERAS ARE GREAT - FILM MAKES USDA DO THEIR JOB-NOTHING LESS.

Discusting that in this age, this has to go on. These horses dont need enhancements, they are more beautiful without. Criminal.

I really hate the big lick

I show flat shod walking horses, simply because the upkeep is not as intensive and expensive. Every breed of horse has issues with their show horses being exaggerated. How many race horses have we watched break legs? Or jumpers take spills over weird obstacles? Walking horse foals are born with this gait, you can't take a quarter type and pad him up and expect him to walk. wont happen. Are some sore? Maybe, but there are safeguards in place to keep the field level as possible. WALK ON!!

yes, It show cases the world most abused tennessee walking horse. the humane society has named this show the cruelest horse show on earth. These padded horses endure a life of torture. By allowing this video you are allowing these people to advertise these poor animals.

Hi I had a horse with "soft feet'. I put her on a biotin supplement and ShoGlo (vitamin). It helped her feet and reduced the number of colds she got in the winter. I also dont know if this is a good idea but could your farrier put a small metal strip around her hoof and screw it in with SHALLOW screws or epoxy to provide extra support? This would only work if the crack is on the outside of the hoof to prevent interfering.
I would keep her trimmed short & roll her toes to reduce hoof stress.

for more information you can visit the United States Humane Society Web site and view a video called the cruelest horse show on earth. There was over 400 horse protection act violations at the 2009 Celebration
Whn USDA VMOs inspect all horse, they disqualify less than 5% of horses, and not all for soring, but also include improper equipment/technical violations. Look how many horses are lined up in this class. They were all inspected by USDA pursuant to the Horse Protection Act, AND THEY ALL PASSED!!! Palpations, chemical/foreign substance swipes, visual inspections, pulling shoes randomly and and other types of electronic analysis. Some people will never be happy until all paddeds are banned.

What is the point of padding anyways? Is natural not enough? The naturally moving TWH is beautiful just as is.

TWH's are beautiful without pads, but "What is the point of padding anyways?" What's the point in any shoe other than a keg, or a shoe at all. "Is natural not enough?" There is nothing natural about shoeing a horse, period. Or for that matter, riding a horse. I have still yet to see a TWH get hurt in the ring like I have seen hunter jumpers breaking legs on these jumps they do. Making a horse jump over water and through shrubs with a rider on top of them, that is not natural. Niether is dressage

Personally I prefer flat shod horses to padded, BUT, don't think some of those flat shod people aren't doing stuff to their horses. I have seen bolts in feet, purposeful quick cutting, and foreign objects in the frog to creat a bruise, and just as much soring as the paddeds are supposedly doing. I don't know what other breeds do, but soring, while I don't condone it, is not limited to Tennessee Walking Horses.

The industry is enforcing rules on soring, etc., maybe not to the liking of some groups, but better than it was. One top trainer was just suspended by the Walking Horse Trainers Assocaiation, not the USDA or National Horse Show Commission, for alleged pressure shoeing AT HIS BARN. Another top trainer was suspended for 5 years for soreing. There are some serious penalties coming down now, which WILL have a chilling effect on soreing.
