I don't think oriental swordfighting was by any means more sophisticated or effective than European; it just happens that the mysterious and exciting foreign styles and weapons are more glorified in this age by popular culture.

Its true though war is happy until your crouched behind a rock with bullets flyin all around you, sweat blood ash and tears runnin down your face. There are men trying to kill you and they'll stop at nothing to do it. And when its over all that greets you are the fallen that lay dead or crying and screaming in pain. Trust me I know, war is fun for those who dont know its cost.

no chinese used it for solely fireworks and europeans that were on trade routes or some such thing found it and realized its properties and how it could be put to use. this is what caused the implementation of in european guns and cannons and such
