Incredible to see footage of Takamiyagi Sensei fighting as a young man.

Well im not going to comment on your lack of knowledge of the martial art
look at this video
watch?v=zzbsc3inkAU&feature=fv sr
its a vid of a uechi ryu fighter who fights with other martial artist such as kick boxers. in the video a few kick boxers get beat by him and your telling me that starting kick boxers could take on these pioneers of UR fighting style.maybe instead of shitting on a style you dont know about and never practice maybe you should respect other styles.

This looks silly. How can, these "masters" laster pass on that what they teach has anything deadly or effective to offer. These guys have NO technique. They are aggressive, but no more than kids at a playground. I value this footage for it's authenticity. But there is zero technique.

@Theseus1000 yes they do have shin kicks. also snap kicks with the ball of the foot in shotokan is definately the most damaging way to kick the torso. something worth getting use to.

contesting mma is just the surface of the problem. for what can only a few linages have what it takes to even transition properly between their striking and grappling concepts. from what i can see its just looks like bad kick boxing none of the concepts from the drills are addressed they way they move compromises the original premise of producing power from sanchin

if traditional martial arts trained what works in time of old then it sure as hell doesnt show in this video. nothing illustrated in kakie or bunkai can be seen here where the bridging ? they seemed have never trained proper gap and bridging. atleast bruce lee had it right to realize that school at the time had not taught that one basic concept that many schools seemed to have lost

@talon115 LOL that's for sure. they moved terribly. no form, no balance, no composure

Hi can someone tell me if Uechi-ryu uses shin kicks and if that is traditional striking method of Okinawan karate I used to train Shotokan and foot kicking always apeard to me unnatural and something for noncontact kumite ... Also Uechi-ryu is beatifull to watch.

You clearly see how all the theory and pretty moves go out the window when subjected to the smallest amount of pressure.

Thank you brother for enlightening me on your opinions and factual representations and i respect you.
Indeed BUDO has been and will be about life and death and is not a backyard bloody brawl with pussies.
What ryu do you belong to in the Karate Do branch ?
I was a Hayashi Shito Ryu , Okinawan Kempo and Okinawan Goju ex practitioner.

Yes, we are brothers, and I have respect for you as well. I love Hayashi-ha Shito-Ryu and I worked out many times with Odo Sensei and his students. (I am a Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karateka and a Motobu-Ha Shito-Ryu Karateka. Please stay in touch.
